On Day 2 of the India vs Australia WTC Final, Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill made a strong start for India, but things quickly took a turn for the worse as India lost their first five wickets in the second half of the day.
At the end of Day 2, India had only managed to score 151/5, trailing Australia by 318 runs and needing to score 118 more runs to avoid a follow-on. All five of Australia’s bowlers managed to take a wicket each. However, India did manage to put up a fight thanks to a 71-run partnership between Ajinkya Rahane and Ravindra Jadeja for the fifth wicket. Jadeja scored 48 off 51 before getting dismissed by Lyon, while Rahane remained unbeaten at stumps with a score of 29 off 71 with KS Bharat at the other end.
Earlier in the day, Travis Head and Steve Smith both scored centuries to help Australia reach a total of 469. India made a good comeback on Day 2 after only taking three wickets on the first day, with Mohammed Siraj taking four wickets to lead the way for them.
Alex Carey also helped Australia cross the 450-run mark with his quickfire 48, but India managed to prevent the opposition’s tail from wagging too much.
