Sunrisers Hyderabad Look To Rejuvenate IPL Campaign Against Chennai Super Kings
The Sunrisers Hyderabad have had an up-and-down campaign in this season’s Indian Premier League (IPL). After starting their campaign with two losses, they were able to turn things around with two wins to get back on track. However, they were unable to continue their resurgence as they fell heavily to Mumbai Indians in their most recent clash. If they are to regain the momentum they seem to have lost, they must make a statement win at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
The home side, Chennai Super Kings, have been quite formidable with the bat this season, having already breached 200 twice in the tournament, including their most recent win against the Royal Challengers Bangalore. Ruturaj Gaikwad, Mayank Markande, and Tushar Deshpande have provided the team with some much needed stability. Despite their impressive form this season, Chennai have had their share of struggles at the venue, with most recently being outplayed by the Rajasthan Royals.
With Chennai having a strong, left-heavy batting lineup, the Sunrisers Hyderabad should have some success with their spinners. Washington Sundar has a formidable record against southpaws and should be able to contain the home side’s batters. Bhuvneshwar Kumar has had some success against Chennai’s batters, most notably against MS Dhoni, and will certainly be a threat in the bowling attack.
It has been a theme in this IPL season that the away side has emerged victorious in eight out of the last ten games. With a steady batting lineup and a spin-heavy bowling attack, Although the Sunrisers Hyderabad have what it takes to continue this trend and get their campaign back on track. But with a powerhouse batting lineup such as that of the Chennai Super Kings, they will have to be on their toes to be successful. My prediction: CSK to win a close match thanks to half centuries from Gaikwad and Rahane, and economical spells from Theekshana and Pathirana.
